Ethical Diamonds

Every piece of diamond jewellery we create at House of Diamonds is conflict-free. We carefully source our diamonds from reputable and trustworthy suppliers who operate under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and the System of Warrantics. This reflects our commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in the diamond industry.

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme was established and implemented by the United Nations in 2003 with the aim of eradicating the trade of conflict diamonds, also known as 'blood' diamonds:
  • It outlines regulations and requirements that effectively prevent illegal diamond trading.
  • It ensures that all imported diamonds are accompanied by government-validated Kimberley Process certificates, certifying them as conflict-free.
  • It guarantees that diamonds are transported in tamper-resistant, scaled containers from their source.
  • The Kimberley Process members account for approximately 99% of the global production of rough diamonds.

The System of Warrantics

The System of Warranties is an additional measure within the diamond industry to ensure the conflict-free status of diamonds sold to individual jewellers. When diamonds are imported into a country and prepared for trade, they undergo certification by reputable companies such as GIA, HRD, or DCLA, which guarantee their conflict-free nature. Diamond dealers can provide warranty statements that verify the legitimacy and conflict-free status of loose diamonds or complete diamond jewellery. In fact, all diamond traders and manufacturers are required to maintain copies of their invoices for annual audits.
